What it is

Chenpi (陈皮) is sun-dried tangerine peel that has been aged — sometimes for years, like a good wine. The longer it rests, the deeper and sweeter its citrus aroma becomes. The most prized peels come from Xinhui in Guangdong, where drying racks of golden peel are a yearly ritual.

What tradition says

In TCM, chenpi is the classic herb for moving qi and drying dampness (理气燥湿) — traditionally used when the body feels heavy, puffy or sluggish. Its warm, mellow citrus scent is also simply one of the most comforting smells in the entire herbal canon, which is why we built a whole fragrance around it.

Why it's in your bath

Chenpi appears twice at Verdalence: milled into our heritage soak formulas, and as the soul of our Chenpi English Breakfast Tea bath bomb — aged peel melting into malty black tea, sunset in a teacup.
