What it is

Honeysuckle — Lonicera japonica, jīn yín huā (金银花), literally "gold-and-silver flower" — earns its name by blooming white and turning gold on the vine, so both colors hang side by side. Its nectar-sweet scent is childhood summer in much of China.

What tradition says

Jīn yín huā is TCM's beloved cooling, clearing flower — traditionally used to clear heat and soothe (清热解毒), brewed into summer teas and added to washes for hot, bothered skin. It closes our eight-treasure formula the way dessert closes a banquet: light, sweet and calming.

Why it's in your bath

Honeysuckle rounds out the blend's warming herbs and leaves the water — and you — smelling faintly of summer nectar. Eight treasures, one ball, fifteen minutes.
